5 Places to Get Amazing Views of the Pyramids of Giza

For ages, the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt have entranced explorers, their timeless grandeur attracting visitors from all corners of the globe. Many travellers consider visiting them to be a bucket list item and the Pyramid Complex, where they are housed, is often a stop on their itineraries.

While this complex undoubtedly has the closest view of the pyramids one can get, there are more locations that also offer equally captivating views. Therefore, if you’re seeking more places from where you can admire the grandeur of the pyramids, here are five vantage points to do so in Cairo!

Best Egypt Itinerary

View of The Pyramids from the Pyramid Complex

The first place is of course the pyramid complex. I have an entire post dedicated to visiting this location in Giza and the best way to do so. The complex is quite large and has several vantage points to enjoy stunning views. One of the best places to stop by is right in front of the Sphinx, with two of the three largest pyramids towering behind it.

You can also choose to simply walk around the complex and appreciate the views from different points, including the 9 Pyramids view, which you can find on Google Maps.

View of The Pyramids from the 9 Pyramids Lounge

Next, is the 9 Pyramids Lounge, which is a restaurant situated within the Pyramid Complex. The restaurant offers views of all nine pyramids and could be a great addition to your Giza itinerary.

As it is a popular stop for tourists visiting the pyramids, I recommend either arriving for opening or making your reservation in advance. I also highly recommend reading recent reviews before visiting.

View of The Pyramids from a Hotel Room or Rooftop

Imagine waking up to the sight of these majestic structures right from your window or balcony! Because they are situated right within the metropolitan area of Giza, this is possible! And the best part is, you don’t have to fork out a fortune to enjoy this view of the pyramids!

My stay at the hotel pictured cost me only $40 per night! This is currently one of the most affordable places to stay in Giza and is suitable for travellers on a budget. Travellers with a higher budget can consider a luxurious stay at the Marriott Mena House, Cairo, which also has gorgeous views of the pyramids from its garden.

Other locations worth considering include Egypt Pyramids Inn, which has a lovely rooftop for watching the sunset over the pyramids and this popular location where you can enjoy views of the pyramids while lounging in a jacuzzi!

View of The Pyramids from a Rooftop Restaurant

Another option is to head to a rooftop restaurant in Giza which provides a panoramic view of the city skyline, with the pyramids forming an unmistakable backdrop.

Hotel restaurant with rooftop views of pyramids

In addition to watching a beautiful sunset from these viewpoints, you can also enjoy front-row seats to the light and sound show for the price of a refreshing beverage or dinner. Pending when the show’s facilities are updated, I dare say that this is the best way to watch the show!

View of The Pyramids from the KFC and Pizza Hut Building

Finally, we have the infamous KFC and Pizza Hut building situated just opposite the complex, which many travellers love to hate! It might be hard to accept that these restaurant chains are within such close proximity to structures as historic and grand as the pyramids but it is what it is!

So, there you have it! If you do visit Egypt and the Pyramids of Giza, be sure to check out any of these vantage points for stunning views of the Pyramids! If you have been to any other fun spots, or the ones mentioned here, please share them in the comment section below!

I left Nigeria in 2020 and returned every year for the next 3 years... it would be another 3 years before I made it back home again and so many things have changed, so many things have remained the same...

I've enjoyed the familiarity, good Nigerian food, our welcoming spirit, seeing my family and friends once again 💙 It's felt soo good to be back...

In 3 years, I've missed friends getting married, having kids, moving away, moving back... my parents getting older, my youngest sibling already grown up...

It's a lot of mixed emotions and I fear it would be harder to leave again. One thing is for sure though, I won't wait another 3 years to come back home.

How beautiful! 🥹🌸🍃

Japan in Sakura Season is absolutely stunning. I still can't believe we got to enjoy it without the overwhelming crowds.

If you're heading there in a few months, DO consider going off the beaten path. It is so so worth it, I promise you!

Here are alternative cities to consider for lighter crowds without missing out on the "Japan travel experience!"

Tokyo >>> Nagoya, Matsumoto, Fukuoka
Kyoto >>> Magome, Narai, Kanazawa, Kibune
Osaka >>> Okayama
Hakone, Fuji : Skip the day trip and stay overnight

Comment "Sakura" and I'll share the link to my Japan Itinerary blog post to help you plan your trip easily!
