Everytime I looked up things to do in Kampala and Entebbe, I saw results filled with a lot of movements - oftentimes chaotic, with traffic. 🚙🏍 I wanted calm and serenity 🍃 and knew there just had to be somewhere in these cities where I could find that. And that's how I stumbled upon Entebbe Forest Lodge - an oasis in the midst of a very busy city. Situated only 30mins away from the international airport, this lodge was a great introduction to Uganda 🇺🇬 It is located in the middle of a forest, right on the banks of Lake Victoria. Views you can't beat! This is the Standard Guage Rail (SGR) in Kenya 🇰🇪. It is a rail service that goes from Nairobi to Mombasa (and vice versa) with several stops along the way! The total time is about 6 hours but if you look outside the window during your ride, you will see several wildlife just living wild and free! Possible sightings include zebras, warthogs, gazelles, impalas, giraffes and in my opinion, the star of the show - elephants! 🐘🦓🦒 It is such an exciting activity to spot them while on board! And if you have the chance to choose your seats, pick the left side of the train when travelling from Nairobi to Mombasa (i.e. even numbered seats when travelling in Premium Class). You start to see elephants as you approach Voi and Miasenyi Stations. ✨️
