My tea journey has come full circle. I’ve gone from visiting a tea farm in Nairobi to savouring afternoon tea in the city, and one could argue that I’m now a connoisseur of all things tea! Barely, but let’s pretend, okay?

With a free Monday stretching ahead of us, Aina and I decided to treat ourselves to something truly special – high tea at Villa Rosa Kempinski, one of Nairobi’s most exquisite destinations for this timeless tradition. Since we were already heading there, we decided to couple this with a spa date as well! Picture this: fragrant teas, decadent desserts, soothing spa treatments, and elegant surroundings. The exact things a girls’ day out is made of!
Spa Experience at Villa Rosa Kempinski
We booked a Monday afternoon appointment, which meant a sweet 15% discount on the normal spa prices – I mean, the day was already off to a fantastic start because who doesn’t love a good deal, right, ladies?
Our appointment was scheduled for noon, but we’re the type who know how to maximise our spa experience, so we arrived early to soak up all those extra perks. First stop? Straight to the jacuzzi and sauna facilities to really kick off our relaxation mode.

A little past noon, we were ushered into the spa room for our deep tissue massages. From the moment we stepped inside, the scent of essential oils and that soft, calming music instantly set the perfect mood. The therapists were professional, attentive, and my massage was excellent. 50 minutes felt like it went by in the blink of an eye, and I walked out of there feeling completely rejuvenated and well-rested, but already mentally booking my next appointment!
With more time to spare before our afternoon tea, we grabbed some drinks and small bites and settled in by the pool.

And honestly, if we had ended the day here, I’d have been completely content. The experience up until now was already so full and satisfying – like we’d already gotten our money’s worth and then some.
But instead of calling it a day, we spent about an hour just frolicking in the pool, sipping our drinks and soaking up that perfect Monday afternoon vibe. There’s something so freeing about being in the water on a weekday when you’re supposed to be “productive” – we were giggling, floating around, and just being completely present in the moment.

As tea time drew closer, we relunctantly pulled ourselves away from the poolside and headed downstairs to the tea lounge.
Afternoon Tea in Nairobi
Villa Rosa Kempinski’s afternoon tea is a full experience – not just a few scones and a cup of tea. Think a three-tiered stand filled with delicate finger sandwiches, scones served with clotted cream and jam, and a wide array of dainty pastries. There’s also a generous tea selection featuring herbal infusions, classic black teas, and fragrant blends. If you’re more of a coffee person, they’ve got you covered, too.

Personally, I found the pastries and accompaniments to be a bit of a mixed bag. I absolutely enjoyed the macarons, chocolate cake, and mango mousse dessert, but the rest didn’t quite suit my taste. That said, the overall experience was still delightful – the ambience, the company, and the fragrant teas more than made up for any shortcomings in the tea selection.
As we finally gathered our things and prepared to leave Villa Rosa Kempinski, both Aina and I was glowing – not just from the spa treatments, but from the pure joy of a day well spent. We’d managed to pack so much indulgence and relaxation into one afternoon, yet it never felt rushed or overwhelming. Instead, it felt perfectly balanced and truly special.

Pricing and How to Book the Afternoon Tea at Villa Rosa Kempinski Nairobi
Villa Rosa Kempinski’s afternoon tea is available daily from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. It’s best to make a reservation, especially on weekends. As of our visit, the afternoon tea experience costs KES 2,900 per person. To book a session, you can simply call or email the hotel.
Booking a Spa Day Package
The cost of your spa session will depend on the treatments you choose. With every treatment, you’ll have access to the sauna, jacuzzi, and pool. Note that Villa Rosa Kempinski isn’t particularly camera-friendly in these areas, for obvious privacy reasons. We happened to be the first to arrive at the spa, so the photos you see in this post were taken long before any other guests showed up. If you do take photos, please be mindful of other guests’ privacy.
Also, keep in mind that the 15% discount only applies to sessions that end by 12 PM. We received the discount because we arrived early, and I asked for it. It’s just something to note if you plan to visit.
Final Thoughts – Would I Recommend It?
Absolutely, yes. This afternoon tea and spa day at Villa Rosa Kempinski was a gentle reminder that luxury doesn’t have to be reserved for big occasions. Sometimes, celebrating friendship, self-care, and slow afternoons is reason enough.
So, if you’ve been thinking about planning a relaxing girls’ day out in Nairobi — this is your sign. Book the tea. Book the massage. And enjoy every second of it.
